Daniel started his seafaring adventure in 2012 as a backpacker, falling into the pearling industry in Western Australia. He quickly realised that he enjoyed being a deck-hand and learned how to tie a few knots. From there, he worked as a Pearler for two years until his Australian visa expired.
In 2015, Daniel secured his first contract in the yachting industry and has since worked on three yachts - one of which was a prestigious charter yacht. He gained his RYA yacht master offshore and realised he wanted to progress further in the industry.
Daniel returned to full-time education in 2019 where he began preparing for his OOW Unlimited qualification as an experienced seafarer. He passed his HNC and MCA written exams at the end of the year, however, he faced significant delays in sitting his oral exam due to the implications of the ongoing pandemic.
Having been away from college for almost a year, Daniel turned to Onboard Maritime for some tailored one-to-one tuition in preparation for his oral exam in September 2020. He now holds his OOW Unlimited and is looking forward to securing his first OOW position.
